New year's Resolution...what's yours?

Happy...

Merry Xmas and happy new year!!!

This year has been full of new projects, some dreams came true:-), new friends, many mistakes from which I tried to learn, I feel thankful mostly for the mistakes. These are making up who I am today.

This year 2013 has been full of love.

Hence, again let me recommend you one of the best Xmas movie (at least for me); Love & Humour. And if you have already watch it.. It's the time to do it again!!

Any hidden vice?

When you fall into a vice..does the language really matters?  Let me explain. 

A good book fall on my hands and then...

I want to make it last but I can't stop reading.... 
I want to scape from my life and hide somewhere to keep reading..
I like to stop reading and imagine how it will end...
I enjoy taking a while to enjoy when something interesting happens..
I know the others can't feel how I feel until they read it..
I want to share it with everybody...
I want to find another book that makes me feel again the same and I know...

EACH BOOK IS UNIQUE

Unconditional! You can't miss it!

I may "look" a bit slushy* lately but I can't help it... Once again recommending movies: this time related to the last post about LOVE and its meaning.

What this movie made me think about was something that we use to forget... to GIVE. 

That's what life is about. 

Factually* is quite a different story, we expect to RECEIVE.

WHY???????

HONESTLY, WATCH THE MOVIE and..

...let's spread this positivism with every single being;

An unconditionall "GIVING CIRCLE" will never end and it will run through ALL frontiers. 

Do you dare trying it?

Start helping a friend, smiling to your neighbour, maybe finding some organization locally who GIVES to others. In my case, PROGATS really gained my heart. You may say is not the same like taking care of children like Joe Bradford does (as seen in the movie) as taking care of CATS, but every little action counts.

A lot of little actions make the difference.

This is a tribute* to one person I met this week; I am sure she practices all of the above mentioned "synonims" of love. But she shares specially her LOVE with all living beings* through the arduous task of coordinating LOVE of others to help and take care of CATS.

You may have a cat or not, but you see them in the streets all the time, right? Some of them approach* you, others are completely wild, but in any case they are not as we think, we do not control them, not even foreseen* their behaviour*. And by the way, ... who is taking care of those cats? can we take them home?

There are a lot of organizations around the world which as PROGATS IGUALADA help CATS in many different ways. 

I will be posting some interesting information about these genuine creatures, for the moment you can check the site and contact them for further information if needed.

Let's get used to include them in our vocabulary :-)

"Spill the beans" means to divulge very confidential information.

"Derramar las habichuelas/judías" significa divulgar información muy confidencial.

"An honest penny" means a small amount of money which was earned legally.

"Un penique honesto" significa una pequeña cantidad de dinero que se ha ganado de forma legal/honesta.

"Pain in the neck" means very annoying.

"Dolor en el cuello" significa que algo es muy molesto.

"Cross the bridge when you get there" means only think about the problems when they come up.

Idioms of the day

Blow your own trumpet means to brag about oneself instead of waiting for other people to praise you.

"Blow your own trumpet"* significa alardear/presumir de uno mismo en lugar de esperar a que otros te elogien.

Beat-up means being in a bad physical or emotional state.

"Beat-up" To be beat up = significa estar en un mal estado físico o emocional, algo así como "machacado".

Just wanted to say hi...!

Blogs are such a new world; you really get lost between gadgets, widgets, posts, labels, people counters, etcetera.. I started some months ago with the goal of sharing interesting posts with my students from the course "Enjoy English Montbui"* That's where the name of the blog comes from. But the course ended and the blog was still "asking" for more posts and I was only a "baby" in the matter... well, maybe I already became a teenager ...?

Nevertheless, I didn't give up and started cooperating at the local radio "Radio Nova" in Vilanova del Camí (Barcelona). You can listen all of our "English Menu"  in "De Que Parlem" This new activity really opened my mind and help me to share my -still limited- knowledge of English locally and globally trough this useful way.I encourage you not only to leave your comments or suggestions for our radio section but also if you feel like participating; we can manage to do something together via Skype for example.
